Swiss tennis star Roger Federer has now equalled Jim Connors' record of 160 consecutive weeks as world No. 1.

Federer also has the potential of becoming the longest top ranked player. The only other players with longer records than his as No. 1 (but not consecutively) are John McEnroe (170 weeks), Ivan Lendl (268 weeks), Connors (268 weeks) and Pete Sampras (270 weeks).

Guillermo Cañas is the first lucky loser to defeat the world no. 1 in a tournament since Sandon Stolle's defeat of No. 1 Thomas Muster in a tournament in Dubai in 1996. Cañas recently defeated Roger Federer in the 2nd round of the Pacific Life Open tournament in Indian Wells, 7-5, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal of Spain is the first man since Illie Nastase of Romania to win the Monte Carlo Tennis Masters tournament three years in a row. Nadal defeated world No. 1 Roger Federer for his 3rd straight Monte Carlo trophy, and 19th overall.

Roger Federer won his 13th Grand Slam by defeating Andy Murray in US Open last Monday, one short of Pete Sampras' record.

Federer is the first player to win five straight US Open singles titles.

Ending Federer's Reign

Rafael Nadal ascended the No. 1 ranking this week, ending Roger Federer's record 237 weeks at the top spot.

Nadal, who won Wimbledon, Roland Garros and the singles gold in Beijing Olympics this year, was Federer's No. 2 for more than 160 weeks.

Rafa in the Stars

The International Astronomical Union approved last July the request of The Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca to rename an asteroid after tennis great Rafael Nadal, who recently won Wimbledon.

The asteroid, previously been known as 128036, is 4 kilometers in diameter and travels through space at a speed of 20 km per second. It was discovered in 2003.

Novak Djokovic needs to retire in the US Open tournament to complete the "retirement Slam".

First 5-setter AO Final Since 1988

The Sunday's final of Federer vs. Nadal at the Australian Open is the first five-setter final in the tournament since 1988, between Mats Wilander and Pat Cash.

This is also the first time I saw Roger Federer break down after a defeat. Felt sorry for him, actually

Juan Carlos' First Title in 6 Years

Longest Tennis Match

The first round match between Nicolas Mahut and John Isner in Wimbledon 2010 is the longest on record. The fifth set was played over three days, in more than 7 hours, and total match time is more than 11 hours. The score was 59-59 before it was halted on the second day due to darkness.

Former world no.1 and 2003 French Open champ Juan Carlos Ferrero won his first title since 2003 in Casablanca. He defeated Florent Serra for the title.

"Homem de verdade
De mentira,
Na hora da verdade,
Eis que mira,
Do jeito que for.

Não importa
Me faço aluno,
Banco o professor,
Mudo de lado,
Fico por baixo,
Seja o que for.

Chutando para o gol
Ou sentindo a bola entrar,
Deixo minha verdade,
Com toda a intensidade
A mentira devorar..."
